You’ve mastered all of the skills required for safe and challenging indoor rock climbing.  What’s next?

Making the transition from indoor gym climbing to outdoor sport climbing is often a daunting challenge.  It doesn’t need to be.  Ground Up Climbing Guides is hosting a series of “Gym To Crag Transition Weekends” in Mammoth Lakes.  We will focus on the skills needed to safely enjoy bolted sport climbing as this is the logical next step for most climbers.

Climbing and clinics will take place at Clark Canyon, our favorite summer sport crag.   There is camping available at Big Springs Campground located at the start of the dirt road out to Clark.  We will have special room rates at area hotels if you don’t want to camp.

The weekend includes a full day of climbing on Saturday and a half-day on Sunday to allow for other high Sierra fun or travel time back home.  All gear and professional AMGA certified guide (ratio: 4 to 1 or less) instruction is included.  We will have a series of mini-clinics throughout the weekend but of course, if there is something specific you want to learn, just ask.  Mini-clinic topics will include:

Cleaning anchors

Rappelling

Intro to lead climbing

Intro to anchor building and gear placement

Cost: $265
